Frequently Asked Questions

Every professional writer runs his or her business differently. The following FAQ will give you an idea of what you can expect from me when we work together. If you have further questions, please feel free to email me at beth@creativeinklings.org.

What services do you provide?

Writing and ghostwriting of books, ebooks, online and offline articles, Web content, PLR,  press releases, publicity articles, reports, business letters, brochure content, editorials, book reviews, Web site reviews, etc. I also provide proofreading and editing services.

Another popular service I offer is editing of transcripts. For example, you may have transcripts of a teleseminar you hosted and you want those transcripts edited into an ebook or a manual. I can take your transcripts and edit them into a polished manuscript you can then use for other purposes.

If you have a need that is not listed, please email beth@creativeinklings.org to discuss how I can help you.

Why hire a professional writer?

There are many reasons people hire professional writers and ghostwriters, including:

  • To save time - If you struggle with writing or if you simply have too much to do, hiring a professional writer will save you valuable time that you can then use to focus on other important tasks, such as building your business.

  • To save money - Hiring a professional writer is going to save you money in the long-term because you know you're getting high quality copy from an established writer.

  • To bring a vision to life - Sometimes you know what you want to convey, but you just don't know how to bring that message to life. A professional writer will work closely with you to understand your needs and your vision and then bring that vision to life.

Why should I hire you?

I know how to write compelling copy. In addition to a B.A. in Journalism and Communications, which I earned magna cum laude on a full writing scholarship, I have been writing professionally for more than a decade. I've written one published book (Atlantic Publishing) and am currently working on my second book, to be self-published in early 2009.

I have also written dozens of ebooks, thousands of online and offline articles, Web content, PLR, press releases, publicity articles, audio scripts, etc.

Additionally, I am a skilled researcher and diligent proofreader and editor, having provided proofreading and editing services for a vast range of clients, including a national book publisher.

Are you a full-time writer?

Yes. Writing is my career, not an after-work hobby.

Who actually does the writing?

Unlike some writers who prefer to outsource their writing to other writers, I complete all projects myself unless we have agreed otherwise before beginning the project. No work will be outsourced to another writer unless that writer has:

    • Been approved by you to work on your project
    • Been thoroughly screened
    • Provided references that have been checked
    • Provided relevant writing samples

Do you use article spinners or other writing software?

Absolutely not. All copy is 100 percent original and run through Copyscape. Even upon the client's request, I will not use an article spinner or any type of writing software designed to churn out content.

Can I see samples of your writing?

Sure. Please visit my portfolio page to view writing samples. If you would like to see more samples, please email me at beth@creativeinklings.org.

What are your writing rates?

Rates depend upon several variables, including type of copy needed, turnaround time, the depth of the project, and your budget. However, all writing rates include research, writing, editing, proofreading, and up to two revisions.

Revisions are offered for up to 10 days after the delivery of the final project. (If more time is needed to review the work, however, exceptions can be made if approved ahead of time.) Pages are double-spaced, approximately 250-350 words, with Times New Roman font, size 12. If you prefer another format, please let me know during the initial consultation.

How do you define revisions?

Revisions are defined as editing of the original work. Complete rewrites of the work to create a new product - articles, for example - are considered rewrites. Rewrites are available for a separate price. Please specify if you want rewrites and a quote will be provided.

How do I get started?

Just send an email to beth@creativeinklings.org. Include a description of your project needs, your desired timeline, and any questions you may have.

You can generally expect a response within 24 hours Monday through Friday and in 24-48 hours on the weekend. If your needs are urgent, please include "Urgent Project Need" in the Comments/Question box or in the subject line of your email.

The initial consultation is free.

Who owns the copyright?

If you hire me as a ghostwriter, all rights will be transferred to you upon payment in full of the agreed-upon fee. If you fail to pay for the project in full upon completion, I will retain copyright until the final payment is made.

What is your normal turnaround time?

It all depends on the size and the scope of the project. Turnaround time will be discussed prior to either party committing to a project.

Do you have rush service, and does it cost extra?

Yes. If you have an urgent need, you can request rush service. Rush service costs slightly more than regular service.

How do I know you will do what you say you will do?

A detailed Statement of Work will be completed and signed by all parties before any work begins. The Statement of Work will outline:

  • The specifics of the project

  • Project milestones for larger projects

  • The estimated deadline of the project

  • The agreed upon fee, including deposit

Once the Statement of Work has been signed by both parties and each party has a copy of the signed document and a deposit has been made, work will begin.

What about confidentiality?

All information you provide will remain strictly confidential.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes. A deposit is required before work begins with the remainder due in full upon completion of the project. For large projects, we can work out a payment plan that is acceptable for you, if you prefer.

If copyright is to be transferred to the client, copyright will only be transferred once full payment is made. Should you fail to make the full payment, you cannot legally use the copyrighted work.

How and when do I pay?

You can pay by PayPal, money order, or check. Once the deposit funds clear, I will begin work. Final payment is due upon completion of the project.

How will we communicate?

You can reach me at any time via email at beth@creativeinklings.org or by phone at 540-460-2139.
